Evening Reading
by Brian Leahy, Jan 05, 2011 5:00pm PSTSadly, the 1.2 patch for StarCraft II has been pushed until next week. As soon as it goes live, expect a #shacknews chat room on Battle.net for organizing Shack matches and custom games.
Also, anyone interested in looking at SC2 statistics, build orders, win percentages, APM, and a ton more should go ahead and grab SC2Gears. This program doesn't interact with SC2 at all and runs completely off of replays. It will also autosave and rename your replays when it sees them pop-up in the SC2 folder.
It can also be used to easily upload replays, like so! I will never get tired of writing ER posts about SC2. Deal with it.

So what processor and mobo are you guys going for? I think I'm rolling the 2600K with an Asus P8P67 Pro.
Undecided on what RAM to buy, prob want 8GB but need to research what is compatible, fast, and not crazy expensive.

I ended up buying my motherboard and RAM and patiently await delivery (hopefully prior to the 9th!). Here's what I got:
Motherboard: Asus P8P67 Pro @ SuperBiiz.com for $192 after tax and 2 day shipping (coupon code HELLO2011 gives you $15 off!). Went from the Pro over the Deluxe since I don't need the crazy specs e.g. Quad-SLI or the external USB 3.0 ports. http://www.superbiiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-P8P67PR
RAM: Got 16GB of Corsair Vengeance from Newegg (thanks ant_hillbilly for the recommendation!) for $253.4 with 2 day shipping. Was going to go with 8GB but opted for 16 gigs instead - I'll prob have this base rig for a few years so I figured why not. There was a $20 off coupon code that expired this AM. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233144
The 2600k proc is going to set me back about $300 after tax, so I'm looking at <$750 for a killer rig that can OC to 4.5GHz with 16GB RAM and a motherboard that supports all the latest bells and whistles. I'll pick up a 3rd gen Intel SSD next month and look at GPU's then. Not too bad.
