Knowing that the start of a new calendar year triggers a frenzy of purchasing exercise aids in followers of heliocentric motivation cycles, Ubisoft recently released two new downloadable content workouts for its Kinect fit 'em up Your Shape: Fitness Evolved.

'New Year, New You' panders to your superstition, while 'Dance Workout: Bollywood' is said to be "a dance take on fitness, matching efficient exercise with Indian-inspired moves and atmosphere." Available now, they cost 400 Microsoft Points ($5) each or 560 MS Points ($7) for the pair. Here's a look at New Year, New You:

Over a dozen pieces of Fitness Evolved DLC are slated to launch over the first half of 2011, but we all know you calendar-worshipping wackos will move onto something else within weeks. Waxing your eyeballs in preparation for the vernal equinox, perhaps.

Here's a peek at the groovy Bollywood workout:.

Loathing how tough the workouts are, or loathing the game itself? Still on the fence about kinect (don't know if my room configuration would support it anyways) but curious as to what the best workout game for it would be.

the workouts are tough and getting tedious. if you think you'd enjoy doing different squats for 30 minutes for 3-4 days a week when the game lies to you and says 16 or 33% of the workout will be legs, go for it

Are you saying the workout isn't balanced and it mostly leg routines? If so I definitely wouldn't consider it a good option.

yep. yesterday was 16% legs and it had me doing a lot of running and squats while doing arm exercises. it's like if it involved arm exercises at the same time it doesn't count as leg exercises when it gives you the summary of what's in store.

i will note that i'm playing on easy and am in phase 2 of the 9 week program and i'm also not a fat hippo.

also i started a workout routine in fitness evolved too and quit after starting the 3rd workout where it looked like i was doing the exact same workout as the previous 2 days.
