Rock Band 3 Fender Pro Guitar Pre-Orders Open, Requires MIDI Adapter

I wish it wasn't Best Buy. We ban Best Buy and Target in my house because of their political contributions.

Has anyone used a standard MIDI sequencer with RB3? Does it also require some silly Madcatz accessory, or is the fact that my keyboard is USB itself good enough?

I'm assuming that the reason it requires the MIDI-Pro adapter is to keep the guitar itself platform agnostic? Still kind of disappointing that it's not reflected in the price of the guitar itself.

This news item confused me, since the Squier has been available for pre-order for weeks. I pre-ordered mine a week ago, back when they still had the free $25 Best Buy gift card offer. But I was too late to also get in on the free shipping; I called them up and eventually persuaded the salesperson to waive shipping.

MadCatz has been tightening the screws on the release of the Midi Pro Adapter, it's been a nightmare to try and get one. Amazon has pushed out delivery to anything from late February to March after promising delivery early Jan. See the thread on Amazon for this MPA, it's crazy stuff!! MadCatz are almost impossible to contact (server error if you try and post a message) and I feel bad for their support line... We did manage to track down a Midi Pro Adapter at Best Buy at a store where they have music instruments, but take the SKU # with you to the store, as mostly they do not seem to know what it is if you ask. Have no idea why the peripherals embargo ensues and why MadCatz are doing this, it's hurt RB3 enough as it is already. All we ask is let us play the game with the peripherals we need. Scout around though at Best Buy, they seem to be trickling in slowly.

so when will this be available to non US residents? is that even in the cards?

i REALLY want to be more supportive for RB3, i REALLY do, but this is one of the most convoluted / botched releases i've ever had to deal with. so it's yet another piece of the advertised product that's still months away from release that will well likely cost double for anyone who lives outside the states after duties / taxes / currency exchange.

I tried this guitar at bestbuy's music store thing. It was a strange feeling guitar but actually was a better feel for people who are used to guitar as opposed to the madcatz guitar. I will keep on saving since they are finding new ways to make us fork over the doe ray me.

Man, that ain't cheap. But I'll buy it if it really does work and really does teach you how to play guitar. I'll have to test it out myself and wait for the reviews.
