i have no problemo with this..it always bugged me not knowing if Steve Gibson was really Steve Gibson or if it was Steve Gibson.

ok guys, the abuse of the namespacing bug has gotten to the point where im going to take some action. it was fairly far down the list of shit to fix since the majority of the time its just in good fun.

all nicknames will be restricted to single spaces, with none of those spaces being permitted at the beginning or end of the name. im going to gut mysql of all nicknames that do not follow these rules. no exceptions.

I remember playing Half-Life and thinking, 'when is this game going to end?' It was so expansive, I thought I'd be playing it for another month. We got a lot of game for our buck in HL.

It's a badass game, after it's patched.
And what does that say about a game that needs several patches out of the box? Take Daggerfall as an example: every reviewer, and storeshop clerk said it was a good game - after you went on the web and patched it. Even Paintbrawl was rumored to be a playable game, after you patched it.

Games that ship needing patches to play are rock-bottom shit. They get the lowest rating in my book, simply because the customer becomes the repair man, and winds up suffering through possibly multiple incarnations of code fixes just to recoup their investment.

I denounce what ION Storm has to show for their efforts, and after seeing the demo, am sickened. To think that the wait was for that? I'm sorry but I expect more. I expect nothing but brilliance.

To be fair, I only objected to the Lex Lethal nicks that are spelled exactly like my nick, but utilize the spacing loophole to post as me. I think we can all agree it was getting way out of hand, and convoluted. I have no complaint regarding Alexis Lethal, Lex Lethel, and all the other neat spin-offs, since they could not take advantage of the spacing loophole and submit a post that appeared like my Lex Lethal nick.

We CAN'T kill off the Lex Lethal clones though. Names with spaces which are exact duplicates of the original and are undetectable without viewing the source must go, but we NEED the Lethal Lexes, the Lex Lethels, etc...it just wouldn't be the same...

Yes, Lex, enjoy looking for another message board to crap all over. Steve will look over the posts and realize that you are the one that should be banned.
