Morning Discussion
by Xav de Matos, Jan 03, 2011 5:00am PST2010 is over. Time to start clearing space on our shelves for the swarm of new titles hitting in 2011. In the first three months alone we're going to be bombarded with quality titles. Then a steady stream of other anticipated games are going to trickle out. In November we have Uncharted 3 landing and my personal "OMGOMGOMG" game of 2011, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, arrives. Then Gears of War 3 and, well, all those games that have yet to be revealed.
This generation makes me happy to be a gamer. You know who else is happy? Credit card companies and loan sharks; the only two options I use when making mass video game purchases. What I'm saying is, I make bad decisions.

Managed to hit 60 last night on my human rogue. Went and bought myself one of them special flying mounts and I must say that flying around Outlands is pretty awesome.
Speaking of which, I'm in agreeance with Magus: Outlands is pretty cool. I finished hitting 58 in Sithilus which was a complete pain in the ass and immediately got out of there after finishing what few quests I had left. All of the new mobs in Outlands are pretty awesome and that giant Power Rangers looking thing (Fel whatever) that walks around is equally awesome.
How is everyone else doing in the wonderful world of Warcraft?

Against bosses you want to keep a 3 point pulverize up, 1-3 lacerates up on the target (having 3 by the time you need a new pulverize), mangle on cd (hitting it whenever you get a free one), faerie fire on cd, maul on cd, barkskin on cd, and demo roar up on the target. This isn't including survival instincts and frenzied rejuv, which need to be blown either during periods of unavoidable aoe damage or spikes.
Oh, and there's skull bash, too.
You've got three important cooldowns -- faerie fire (6s), maul (3s), mangle (random) that need to be maintained at all times. Another defensive cd that's there to help out the healers (barkskin -- 60s). Maul ends up being especially important, since it's off the gcd and a new hit, meaning more savage defender procs...
Then you have a buff (pulverize -- 18s) and a debuff (demo roar -- 30s) to maintain.
Then you have lacerate, which is the gcd ability that I believe has its own little quirks making it bad to spam.
Then you have the interrupt and normal set of defensive cd's to use when applicable, which are the same as a warrior.
Also, where I'm at right now is I'm starting to think swipe and thrash might be part of the optimal single-target rotation as well, depending on how lacerate/bleeds work. I really hope not.
The big issue is, this isn't for threat -- it's for mitigation. A warrior fucks up and some threat is lost. A druid fucks up and the druid takes more damage. That's what's really obnoxious about it.
