Game of the Year Runner-up: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty

The wait was definitely worth it with Blizzard's first non-World of Warcraft release since July 2003 and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty is our second best game of 2010. There isn't much more to say that hasn't been covered in the posts for Best Multiplayer, Best Strategy, and Best PC game, which were all taken by StarCraft II.

StarCraft II has something for every type of player with a varied campaign, competitive multiplayer, and rich custom game support that will only improve over time. The game has already jumped to the top of the pile when it comes to PC-based eSports and will most certainly be played for years and years to come, especially with two expansion packs planned.

Check back tomorrow for Shacknews' winner for Game of the Year.

If this is Runner-Up, the actual GOTY must be otherworldy (which I doubt it is). Grrrr...

Well since it won about half of the other awards, I guess you're probably right!

i suspect that it will be a console only game and most of you will cry of bias and being paid off by console companies to skew the results and about how everyone feels betrayed and the time that they spent with their unnominated game of the year picks is now meaningless.

Or people could just actually think that it's pretty impossible for any other game to actually be better. I know that sounds just crazy but...
