Best of 2010 Awards: PS3 Exclusive
by Shack Staff, Dec 29, 2010 2:00pm PSTPS3 Exclusive: God of War 3
We've followed Kratos from lowly soldier to the god of war. From the highest peaks of Mount Olympus to the shallow depths of Hades. We've followed him everywhere and it's been a prime example of supreme badassery from start to finish.God of War 3 throws Kratos into a world of ultimate action, featuring huge and beautiful environments and combat that can be as senseless or precise as you prefer. It's a story about the an intense warrior who cannot let go of his past and, because of the mostly self-inflicted evils that haunt him, is willing to risk his future. It's the definition of a blockbuster action game, making it easy to name God of War 3 the best PS3 game of 2010.
Runner-up: Heavy Rain
There is a level of ambition and attention to detail featured in Heavy Rain that is rarely seen in video games. The game has the ability to make players feel physically uncomfortable at moments where it makes sense, also forcing players to make very quick decisions that have major repercussions. There's an argument to be made that the game should only be played once; preserving the experience in the same "once chance" way, evident in the real world. However, as beautiful as Heavy Rain is and the way we all strive to perfect each situation to save the entire cast, it's hard not to press start once more. And again and again.
Nominees: Yakuza 3, Gran Turismo 5, and ModNation Racers.

Loved Heavy Rain. Definitely the best Sony exclusive. God of War 3 actually disappointed, mostly because of how short it wound up being and how scattershot the story became.
