Morning Discussion

The Shacknews "Best of 2010" continues today with our focus zeroed in on platform exclusives and multiplatform titles.

Yesterday's Toronto Tweet-Up/Shackmeet, with Weekend Confirmed co-host Jeff Cannata, was a lot of fun. It was great meeting the local Shackers. Now I have a whole other host of people I can call in case I get locked up for going too wild following a few too many cups of eggnog.

If you're trying to catch up on our Best of 2010 awards, visit the HUB Tag Page for a complete list of our favorite titles of the year.

So how about that Darksiders game, huh?

I've only just played the beginning of it, but it seems like its gonna be a good one.

After playing the demo I just had to buy it. I mean how could I not?
Now its just sitting in a pile of games that are still wrapped :/

They are making a sequel for it as far as I understood?

It is a great game, as long as it sticks to the beat 'em up combat and puzzle solving. When it tries to branch out into flying game or over-the-shoulder shooter or whatever... I find it falters. But as soon as the run around, smash shit and pull crazy moves and kill monstrous bosses gameplay comes back, I am happy again.

I agree, love the dungeon areas but everywhere else is kind of annoying. The combat is fun if not a bit repetitive.

My pal at work really liked it... said it felt like a darker Zelda.

it's more of a more videogamey zelda if that is even possible. at times this games feels like satire and I really like that.

I'd only consider it "darker" if you mean by this that it actually contains blood and has more comic(al) skulls

And, like Zelda, I tried it and quite liked it but just never went back. :/ Something about the pacing in those games.

Fun game. Not quite as polished as a good Zelda title, and I felt the story could have been executed better but I enjoyed it.

What style of game is this? It's a bit hard to tell from the pictures.

Decent game, I didn't like it as much as a lot of people. I thought the setting wasn't very interesting and the combat wasn't great, I actually prefer Zelda combat because it's more "pure" and isn't trying to be God of War.

PC Controls make it worth it?

Why are the sound effects exactly like God of War? It's like they used the same files(but that's impossible because THQ made this right?)

Could be from the same licensed sound pack that Sony's Santa Monica studio uses, thus why they sound the same / similar.

It sure does. I got about 20 minutes into it and was in love with it.

I picked it up from the Steam holiday sale too. I'm only an hour or 2 into it and so far its very hack and slash. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the more puzzly sections.
