Weekend Discussion

The team at Shacknews would like to wish everyone a very happy holiday season. Hopefully, for those of you lucky enough to rip open a few gifts this year, you got everything you ever wanted.

We're sure you would have loved to keep "Peace on Earth" on your holiday wishlist; however, the vast amount of awesome games available probably kept bumping that item down your "Most Wanted."

Stay tuned for next week, when Shacknews will roll out its "Best of 2010" awards. Until then, what are the Shack staffers doing/playing this holiday season?

  • Alice O'Connor: I was informed, in a mildly threatening tone, that my Winterval festivities will include playing something called 'The Hamburger Game' whether I like it or not.
  • Garnett Lee: A very quick Christmas weekend spent with my mom means air travel. I took advantage of the $.99 sale and got Spider: the Secret of Bryce Manor to play on my touch. When I get back I'm looking forward to more time in 'Nam with the add-on to Bad Company 2.
  • Brian Leahy: I'll be watching football and most likely playing Rock Band 3 with friends. In between, I'm going to try and finish some games that have been on my list (Assassin's Creed II) along with putting more time in NFS: Hot Pursuit and Forza 3. I'll probably also grab the Dead Space 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 demos and of course, feed my Blizzard addiction with more World of Warcraft and StarCraft II.
  • Xav de Matos: Wrestling with the decision to upgrade from my dying iPhone 3G to the iPhone 4. So many great games! I'll also be spending time with my loved ones; enjoying giving and getting gifts. Also, mentally preparing for Boxing Day sales. For you Americans, Boxing Day is Canada's version of Black Friday. It happens the day after Christmas, tons of stuff goes on sale, and it's about as dangerous. There is one exception: when we get knocked over and stepped on, it costs us very little to get medical attention.
  • Jeff Mattas: Did all of my family visiting over the Thanksgiving holiday, so I'll be hunkering down for some serious game-time, with some poker thrown in for good measure. Hot Pursuit, New Vegas, Donkey Kong Country Returns, and the recently-released Oddbox are just a few Xmas morsels I'll be scarfing.
  • Ozzie Mejia: Spending Christmas day with the family, eating a lot of tamales. On Sunday, it's all about the NFL and Team Fortress 2's Holiday update.

Xav de Matos was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.
