Free Back to the Future Episode Arriving in February for Registered Users; Series Begins Wednesday

Those who purchased the Blu-ray edition of the Back to the Future trilogy were also handed a redemption code for the first episode of Telltale's upcoming adventure series, Back to the Future: The Game. Over the weekend, Telltale updated registered users as to the status of their bonus and when they can expect to jump into the DeLorean.

Although the first episode, entitled "It's About Time," will arrive on PC and Mac for paying users this Wednesday, December 22, the free edition of the episode will arrive in "February, just in time for the series' second episode."

Those who don't mind the wait, registration for the free episode is still available--without the purchase of the film series. Telltale purposefully made the free episode redemption code the same in each set, allowing anyone to jump online and register for their own free episode. Registering for the free episode specifically will automatically add the necessary Back to the Future-themed redemption code.

Those interested in pre-ordering the series and playing the first episode this year can nab a free copy of Puzzle Agent for their trouble. Even classier than a free bonus game, Telltale will donate $1 of each pre-order sale to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.

Fuck! I mean it's great they are giving it away and all, but why didn't they mention this before when the offer went live. I don't want to complain about a free game, but thats sort of lame.

  yeah i know, they really made made no mention that the free episode would be delayed 2 months until now, it just kind of came out of nowhere.

  Because they didn't want to cut into sales by offering a free copy of the game immediately upon release. It's a good marketing tatic: you preorder the entire season or buy the first episode, and you get the first episode immediately upon release. Or you can get the first episode for free, but you have to wait a couple months.

    I understand that, but it would have been better to explain that 2 months ago instead of 2 days before release when everyone is expecting to play their free game.

  Just buy it, or make like a tree and split. I picked it up for Â£12. That's a crazy bargain, it's back to the future slackers.

    They haven't even shown any gameplay.. not going to buy a game until I have some idea of what it's like.
