Over fifteen years after it was released in Japan, SNES RPG Dragon Quest VI will finally arrive in North America on February 14, 2011 for the DS, Nintendo announced today.

Dragon Quest VI: Realms of Revelation is a shiny remake boasting "new character options and enhancements," including new graphics. The project was announced way back in 2008 but has barely been heard of since.

Realms of Revelation follows recent remakes Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen, released in 2008, and Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride from 2009. The latter had also only been released in Japan. New title Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies was released in July this year, while DQ X in the works for Wii.

Next Valentine's Day, show someone you love them--give them Slimes.

YES! All the DQ remakes on the DS have been gold so far. Shame about IX..that one was pure garbage, but at least they can't screw up the old ones.

Not having background on the others, but what makes IX garbage?

I wouldn't say it was garbage, but it certainly wasn't as good as the remakes of four and five have been.

I get the feeling that it might work a lot better in Japan, though - they seem to appreciate the random dungeon stuff, and they'll have the density to make the multiplayer features work better.

I havent picked up dragon quest anything since 1-3 on the NES way back when.

I just got 9 a couple days ago and I am having a blast.

If this is a bad one please point me to a good one for the DS.

Both 4 and 5 have been remade for the ds, and they are really fun. Although if the appeal for you is having companions that don't amount to a hill of beans as far as the storyline goes, or want half the game's content held back for online/after the mainstory line is done, then they might not be for you. There are no random online dungeons in 4 or 5, and you don't get to create your own dull/story-less companions.
