Gears of War VGA 2010 Announcement Canceled

By Brian Leahy, Dec 11, 2010 5:16pm PST The planned Gears of War-themed announcement that was scheduled to take place at Spike TV's Video Game Awards has been canceled, according to Major Nelson.

I wanted to share this with you and let you know that while these are never easy decisions, we can tell you that what we have to share for the franchise in 2011 will definitely be worth the wait and we look forward to working with our partner at Spike on sharing this world premier news when it is ready.

This was a decision made by publisher Microsoft, according to a tweet by Gears of War producer Rod Fergusson.

  • "Yeah, Gears of War Kinect is going to BLOW THEM AWAY!" "Dude. Dude, that looks like it sucks." "Whaddya mean? You stand there and you hold your hand out in front of you with your index finger pointed at the screen and your thumb straight up, your other fingers curled in like they're holding a gun handle, and then whenever you want to fire, you go, 'Pew.' Pew pew pew." "Dude, this is state of the pew pew art." "Haven't you seen that Kevin Butler commercial where he said we'd make a game where we'd do that and how it was like throwing people back into the third grade?" "No... I've been... programming in this new, state of the art, pew pew technology. Are you saying we're going to get mocked?" "Yes. They have Uncharted 3, Resistance 3, Killzone 3, inFamous 2, The Last Guardian, a sequel to R&C:F, LittleBigPlanet 2, a Team Ico compilation, and Kratos in the new MK. You got... Gears of War with pew pew." "OMG, we're gonna get creeeaaamed! SOMEBODY! CALL SOMEBODY! WE GOTTA WITHDRAW!" "Just... cancel? But you been hyping this like crazy..." "Better we show nothing and seem like we got something than show something and reveal we got nothing!"
