Deus Ex: Human Revolution Extended CGI Trailer Reveals More Backstory, Augmented Action

Square Enix has released an extended cut of the original trailer that introduced the latest entry in the Deus Ex franchise.

In the extended CGI trailer for Deus Ex: Human Revolution we get a more detailed look at Adam Jensen's backstory, including the loss of someone close to him and his reliance on augmentations to battle enemy forces. As has come to be the standard for the game's sporadic video reveals, the action looks intense.

Developed by Eidos Montreal, Deus Ex: Human Revolution is launching in "early 2011" for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.

i usually watch a trailer once, then avoid any more info until the game comes out... but i've watched these Deus Ex trailers over and over. so gorgeous, and stirring.

this tops my list on most anticipated of 2011. i really hope the gameplay matches the quality of these trailers.

Wow, why aren't more games like this? It might sound like a contradiction, but I think more games should be more like movies and less like well.. games. Movies tend to have much better stories, presentations, characters, etc than games typically do. Compare a romero movie to Left 4 Dead. Is there even any comparison?

It appears as if Jensen is more amoral on this video and less of the "goody two shoes" that JC and Paul were which is an interesting choice. It doesn't make the juxtaposition of the images make him look heroic which is usually the intention so that's weird too.

The only thing that really troubles me is that it seems like it's far more advanced technologically than the original which undercuts the subplot in DX1 regarding mech augs vs. biomods (the Dentons).

The news presenter is reminiscent of various synthetic newsreaders and plays into Gibson's vision of NeoTokyo as well as the look of Blade Runner, anime, and the collar of the odd Renaissance theme they have going.
