Echochrome 2 Lights Up PSN on December 21
by Xav de Matos, Dec 07, 2010 11:50am PSTEchochrome 2--the PlayStation Move-enhanced sequel to the 2008 original--is launching just in time for the holiday season.
Today on the PlayStation Blog, SCEA producer Kumi Yuasa announced the puzzle title that utilizes light and shadow will arrive on the PlayStation Store on December 21. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
In Echochrome 2, players use the PlayStation Move as a light source to create shadows around a series of blocks appearing on screen. By manipulating these shadows players help an onscreen character navigate the world to find the exit. The original title, which first launched on the PSP on March 19, 2008, followed the same premise; however, the player was only responsible for shifting the environment around in order to help the character reach the goal. A PSN version was released in North America on May 1, 2008.
When I wrote our extended PlayStation Move coverage before the peripheral launched, I played the demo of Echochrome 2 and quickly became enamored with it. Between this and Tumble, it's clear that you don't have to be a high-profile retail title in order to make some creative decisions with Sony's motion controller. We'll have to see how the final version turns out when it steps out from behind the darkness.
