Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime Bustin' Out Next Spring on PC, XBLA and PSN

After shifting its entire development focus following a steep decline in revenue in the first half of the fiscal year, we wondered what Atari might do with its Ghostbusters license. Based on Atari's new direction there were two options: Online MMO or a budget and time friendly downloadable product. Atari opted for the latter.

According to USA Today, bustin' will continue in Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime. The top-down action title features four-player online and offline co-op, the ability to drive the Ecto-3 at some point, and puts players back in the shoes of "the rookie" from Terminal Reality and Red Fly Studios' 2009 Ghostbusters title.

Sadly, the original Ghostbusters crew will not reprise their roles for the game and it's unclear whether the original team will even be in the downloadable title at all. It seems like a real "passing of the guard" situation, to which we say "kindly pass it back."

Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is being developed by Wanako Studios, the team that recently launched 3D Ultra Minigolf Adventures 2, and is expected to hit the PC, XBLA, and PSN next spring.

Could be interesting. Depending on if the game has any VO work at all, I'd almost rather have a new team, than the old team voiced by different actors.
