Hey, tactics fans, Steam is now offering users beta access to the Digitalmindsoft-developed stand-alone expansion, Men of War: Assault Squad.

The beta client for the World War II-based, RTS title launched yesterday on Steam, totaling a sizable 2GB. In the beta, players have access to two factions from the final game: USA and Germany. Included are a "selection of classic maps to play on, redesigned game modes, and a variety of improvements.

Specifically, the beta includes the game's new skirmish mode on two maps with up to four players, and the ability to jump online in Assault Zone, Combat, and Frontlines modes.

Men of War: Assault Squad expands on Men of War, which launched on PC in April 2010. The expansion focuses on the infantry aspect of warfare. Following the release of Assault Squad, the team at Digitalmindsoft have announced they will expand the game to the Vietnam war.

I think Men of War Vietnam is an internal 1C team again, like Men of War Red Tide. Digitalmindsoft hasn't got anything to do with it, and I'm pretty sure Best Way isn't doing anything on it either.
