      I believe Rage counts as 'lets make a game we want to play' more then Doom 3 did for them. Blizzard is huge; really huge. Last count they had 5 games being worked on, and only 4 of those are known; that's not even including the time spent on the numerous projects started and canceled over the past 10 years. StarCraft and Diablo are both huge sellers, and money from WoW or not they would have still made them because they love those universes.
      
      If anything id software and Blizzard have kept the closest to their pasts than BioWare.
