The Witcher 2 Delayed Until May 2011

There's good news and there's bad news. The good news is that developer CD Projekt RED now has a specific release date in mind for The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The bad news is that it's May 17, 2011--some two months after the planned March 2011 launch the PC RPG sequel was said to still be on track for as recently as October.

"We've decided to move the launch date back a few weeks to afford us more time to polish the game," project lead Adam Badowski said in the announcement. "Of course, we know that players would like to get the game as soon as possible, so we hope that they will forgive us! We strongly believe that the extra time spent polishing the title will be well worth the wait." So polite, those Europeans.

More details on topics including a Collector's Edition, pre-orders, DRM and the launch will be revealed during CD Projekt's fall conference on Thursday, November 18. The shindig will be broadcast online through The Witcher's website for all to see. Hopefully the DRM will follow RED's own respectable and reasonable DRM policy.

There's still no firm ruling from RED on The Witcher 2's potential console release.
