InstantAction Closing Shop, Torque Looking for Buyers

8
According to a official (but brief) post on the Torque forums by manager Eric Preisz, the InstantAction.com website is being shut down as the company searches for parties interested in purchasing Torque.

According to the website, Torque is "the most licensed engine middleware in the games industry." Some of it's bigger licensees include Bioware, Ubisoft, EA, and Capcom. Originally called GarageGames, the company developed the Torque Game Engine, the original tech powering the Tribes series.

The announcement, in-full, is as follows:

Today, InstantAction informed employees that it will be winding down operations. While we are shutting down the InstantAction.com website and Instant Jam game, Torquepowered.com will continue to operate while InstantAction explores opportunities with potential buyers for Torque. We thank all of our past and current customers for their support.

Thats sad. I wonder what happens to engine updates and T2D. The website says torquepowered.com will stay up for now, but that doesn't sound good.

I started downloading and backing up all of my purchased products last night, just to be on the safe side. I also took a look at the Unity engine, which is really nice looking. I might move my projects to it and leave Torque behind. T2D still has a lot of potential, though.
