The promised "hours of bonus content" included with the PlayStation 3 port of Mass Effect 2 have been revealed as a wodge of downloadable content packs plus a "fully interactive" comic filling PS3 gamers on what happened in the first Mass Effect.

Mass Effect 2 on PS3 will pack the downloadable content packs Lair of the Shadow Broker, Overlord and Kasumi - Stolen Memory, which totalled $24 on PC and Xbox 360, as well as the Blood Dragon Armor available through Dragon Age: Origins. It'll also have all the free Cerberus Network DLC and offer other free and paid DLC.

As Mass Effect was never released on PlayStation 3, BioWare is working on an motion comic to explain the backstory with Dark Horse Comics, who have handled the various Mass Effect comic books. It'll also be interactive, letting you poke around with the various branching plot paths to see what happens. BioWare explains that the "initial release will be exclusive to PS3 owners," suggesting it'll be available elsewhere later.

Mass Effect 2 is due to be released for PlayStation 3 in January 2011. The original PC and Xbox 360 editions arrived on January 26, 2010.
