Mindjack Gets Release Date, New Media

Square Enix's Mindjack has been dated for release on January 18 in North America and January 27 in Japan. It will be released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game was developed by feelplus inc., which co-developed Lost Odyssey with Mistwalker and Ninety-Nine Nights II with Q Entertainment.

Based on the press release description, I get a bit of a Demon's Souls vibe from the multiplayer setup, but I'm sure it won't be anywhere near as punishing as the RPG.

Mindjack is a unique action shooter that will push the boundaries of the third-person genre with its thrilling co-operative gameplay, mind control abilities and other incredible surprises. The game will effectively blur the line between traditional single- and multi-player gameplay, creating a campaign experience where non-playable characters can, at any moment, transform into human-controlled allies or gun-toting foes.

The name sounds like something Gibson or Stephenson would have coined in 1989.
