Crytek UK Talking to Publishers About a New TimeSplitters Game

Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical Design, is reportedly shopping around the idea of a new TimeSplitters title to various publishers, reports Eurogamer.

"We're talking to publishers at the moment," managing director Karl Hilton told Eurogamer. "There hasn't been a TimeSplitters game for quite a while. Obviously TimeSplitters is a FPS with a strong multiplayer element. The question is, is that the way to go with another one, or should it go down a different route, or should we be developing a new IP altogether?"

"The thing to watch out with something like TimeSplitters is it was a bit of a game of its time, but it was quite British," adds Hilton. "It had a sense of humour to it. These days it's difficult because the cost of developing the big budget games is so much now you need to have a broad market. You need to be trying to sell everywhere."

TimeSplitters 4 had been in development by Free Radical following the release of the PS3-exclusive Haze, but was put on hold when the studio faced financial issues, entering bankruptcy administration. Crytek then purchased Free Radical and renamed the studio Crytek UK, which has been assisting in the development of the multiplayer portion of Crysis 2.

Would you play a new TimeSplitters game? What about if it used CryENGINE 3?
