BioShock 2 PC Getting Minerva's Den, Protector Trials, and Final Patch!

31
Earlier this month, 2K Games sadly revealed that it would not be bringing the Protector Trials and Minerva's Den DLC packs to the PC version fo BioShock 2. Also left out in the cold was the game's final patch, already out for the console versions.

Today, 2K's Elizabeth Tobey has announced that the company will be bringing these two DLC packs and the patch to the PC SKU.

In the forum post, Tobey explains the reasoning behind the initial cancellation and resurrection of the DLC and patch.

When we announced that Protector Trials and Minerva's Den would not be coming out for the PC due to technical and timing issues, we received a lot of feedback (much of it understandably expressing disappointment and anger) about our decision.

In terms of the patch and the Protector Trials, we had a working build but there were bugs in the code that would trigger problems with the game during specific situations, and we were not happy enough with the status of the build to release it for certification with Microsoft.

Tobey goes on to explain that the team could not get the patch and DLC up to 2K's standards before moving the development team off of the project as is normal with development cycles. The fan response, however, has been influential and "given the conversations we've had over the past two weeks, we've decided to go back and finish the PC patch and Protector Trials."

The patch and Protector's Trials will be free 2K and estimates it will be ready for certification in December. As for Minerva's Den, "it was not in a workable state [when we stopped development] and needed significantly more dev time to complete." No timing has been discussed for Minerva's Den, but the company has "reallocated resources to work on completing the project."

Hooray for PC gaming!

Man, I hope nobody went out and bought a 360 just to play the Minerva's Den DLC. That would REALLY suck if they did.
