Trine Coming to Mac Next Month; Sequel Could Be Mac-Bound 'If Everything Goes Well'

Although developer Frozenbyte has decided to skip an Xbox 360 version of its original hit title Trine--deciding instead to focus attention on the game's sequel for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, the original game will see new life on Mac next month.

Announced today, Trine will be available on Steam in November and will feature SteamPlay--giving users both the PC and Mac versions of the game with a single purchase. The developer says that the Mac version of the game will be brought to "other digital distributors" in the future and, "If everything goes well, there's a good chance that Trine 2 will also makes its way to the Mac next year."

Frozenbyte tells Shacknews that it will self-publish the Mac version of Trine and, although they could not reveal an exact date for the game, the release of the Mac version is "more 'early' than 'late'" in November. Trine was originally published by Nobilis worldwide and by SouthPeak Interactive at retail in North America. Frozenbyte currently has a publishing agreement with Atlus for Trine 2.

Trine 2 is set to continue the adventures of the wizard, knight, and thief when it launches on multiple platform in the spring of 2011.
