Evening Reading: Happy Friday!

Welcome to the weekend! It's been a different Friday around here. Xav has the day off to enjoy his birthday and Brian is down in Anaheim at Blizzcon. He evidently just played Diablo 3 PvP against JP from MLG. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was a little jealous. But, it should be a great weekend wherever and whatever you're up to. Despite the bugs Fallout: New Vegas seems to be winning people over and it's just one of many games on the coffee table beckoning to be played. Let the weekend begin.

Here's today's highlights including a couple things from Blizzcon:

And a few things to give your weekend an entertaining start

It's still in it's early stages. Wc3 Dota was lots of fail, at first, too. I remember game start load time was 4-5min and full of bugs.

I thought that Valve trademarked DotA

No - they issued an application along with Riot Software. A judge has to rule who owns the trademark before anything is official.

Just because a company files an application doesn't mean they will get it.

Any videos posted yet. Is it being demo-ed at Blizzcon?

Also isn't this the first time Blizzard and Valve are making competing products?

I feel really bad for the HoN and LoL devs that two major players joined.

I don't feel so bad for them, they have successful products; in fact, i'd dare say that HoN will be just fine; it is a supremely refined game that was coded from the ground up for DoTA gameplay, so it would take a pretty good effort by blizzard or valve to steal signifcant amounts of customers

Yeah after playing it more this past week, it's really a well done game. Still 30k people playing daily and 15-20k at off peak late hours. My guess is that they'll be over a year ahead of valve who will probably NOT be as polished as HoN. As far as SC2 dota, I don't see that being anything close to as polished as the standalone products. I'm sure it'll be fun to play occasionally.
