It's amazing what they're pulling off with ground-based telescopes these days. Used to be that Hubble was absolutely essential to getting anything like this.

That was pretty cool. The distances involved are so humbling.

I have problems imagining the size of some suns, I can't even start to comprehend the size of galaxies or the distances between them O_o

Man when ever I see this type of stuff it makes me wonder why we as humans worry about anything else besides the fact that we are on a giant rock flying around a giant nuclear engine in a vast fabric of space surrounded by potential civilizations and knowledge.

People always give me shit when I don't get worked up on stupid petty things in my life. This is the reason why, none of it matters compared to the mystery of how any of this is possible when its so laughably impossible that it cannot be real.

I'm a bunch of expelled star dust that is amassed and working together to experience the surface of substances contained on a rock? And there are other expelled star dust beings doing the same thing? It makes no sense!

I want to know everything about everything, my thirst for the unknown is greater than the unknown itself.

Yet I'm stuck here on this small shifting rock and the only thing that doesn't suck is the Shack. :(

I agree with almost all of that. I just want to know everything. But that doesn't mean everything else sucks, it just puts it into perspective.

For UK Shackers with iPlayer access, last week's Horizon on theories about what happened before the Big Bang was absolutely fascinating:
