THQ Selling SmackDown vs. Raw DLC in Bundle for a Discount

1
THQ will be selling what it is calling "Fan Axxess" for its upcoming professional wrestling game WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011, which "will enable owners to obtain select downloadable content released throughout the life of the videogame" as a single purchase.

THQ expects the Fan Axxess DLC to be $9.99 / 800 MS Points and "will include a number of playable WWE Legends, WWE Superstars and WWE Divas, alternate ring gear, playable arenas, a WWE Superstar Attribute Customizer, instant access to all unlockable content and an in-game badge to recognize the videogame's biggest supporters."

So far, the content to be included with purchase of Fan Axxess will also be available separately as paid-DLC and accounts for $12 of content, if purchased piecemeal. Fans that want everything will be looking at initial savings of $2, but it is unclear how much more additional content will be released via Fan Axxess.

Keep in mind that some of this content will not be available at the time of purchase. It seems to me that this is similar in theory to Mass Effect 2's Cerberus Network, which included DLC for those that purchased the game new or paid $10 on top of a used copy. THQ, however, is asking for the money from all customers. THQ has also experimented with multiplayer passes for new copies of UFC Undisputed 2010.

The details of the content included with the program can be found below.

The first downloadable content package for Fan Axxess, currently scheduled for release this holiday season, will include WWE Legends British Bulldog and Lex Luger; WWE Superstars Wade Barrett, David Otunga and Justin Gabriel; WWE Diva Layla; alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars Shawn Michaels and Shad; and a playable WWE NXT arena. The downloadable content package will be included as part of the Fan Axxess program, as well as sold separately for the anticipated cost of 560 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $6.99 on PlayStation Network.

The second downloadable content package for Fan Axxess, currently scheduled for release in early 2011, will include alternate ring gear for WWE Superstars John Cena, Undertaker and CM Punk, as well as a playable WCW arena. The downloadable content package will be included as part of the Fan Axxess program, as well as sold separately for the anticipated cost of 240 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $2.99 on PlayStation Network.

The WWE Superstar Attribute Customizer will enable players to determine the overall rankings and attribute levels of every WWE Legend, WWE Superstar and WWE Diva in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011. While the videogame will ship to retail outlets with pre-established in-game Superstar ratings, this feature will give players even greater customization freedom to define their own personalized visions of WWE. The WWE Superstar Attribute Customizer will be included as part of the Fan Axxess program, as well as sold separately for the anticipated cost of 80 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $0.99 on PlayStation Network.

Players will also be able to quickly access more than 60 unlockable items in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011, including playable WWE Legends, WWE Superstars and WWE Divas, alternate ring gear, playable arenas, WWE Championships and more. Instant access to all unlockable content will be included as part of the Fan Axxess program, as well as sold separately for the anticipated cost of 80 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE or $0.99 on PlayStation Network.

good. lots of dlc for a discount, and a playable WCW arena?!?!, maybe because still wrestlemania is in the ATL this year and all those "rumors' behind WM XXVII is a 'wcw homecoming" HOF and 'storyline" (the invasion "that used to be"), if i was vince, maybe i learn that when your "on-screen" persona "bury' or some people say you "personally bury" WCW, maybe you might get in the middle, i everyone and most WCW fans who 'miss it' SO BAD wants vince's *** kick, or he's might have a split personally, because times changed in 10 years (the benoit fisaco, etc.), so who knows between now and WM XXVII, kudos to WWE and THQ to bring the playable WCW arena as DLC and i wonder what it'll look like......
