Beyond Good & Evil 'HD' Revamp Coming in 2011
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 30, 2010 1:01pm PDTMichel Ancel's lovely 2003 action-adventure game Beyond Good & Evil is being revamped for a downloadable release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, IGN reports.
Slated to arrive some time in 2011, Beyond Good & Evil HD will, according to IGN, support 1080p and boast revamped characters and textures plus a re-mastered score. There'll also be online leaderboards and, naturally, achievements/trophies.
Featuring a mixture of stealth, action, vehicle play and just plain loveliness, BG&E tells of photographer Jade joining an underground resistance to overthrow a dictatorship and repel an alien invasion of her Earth-ish alien world.
The original Beyond Good & Evil was initially released in 2003, developed by Ubisoft Montpellier and hitting GameCube, PlayStation 2, PC and Xbox, with Ubisoft Milan responsible for porting the latter two editions.
There's no word yet on whether there'll be a PC version of BG&E HD, though the original is still readily available. Steam and GOG, among others, offer it for $9.99.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 is still in development, though we've still yet to see anything official on the game beyond a teaser trailer and screens. However, fantastic-looking footage believed to be a cinematic or proof-of-concept video leaked out in March 2009.

Between this and Stranger's Wrath, I think my fondest memories from both the Xbox and the PS2 are satisfied... in HD!
