Metal Gear Solid 3DS Now Set for Spring 2011

We're getting closer to narrowing down a release date for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. It's vague 2011 release has been updated to a spring 2011 release window, reports Andriasang.

The 3DS will be released on February 26, 2011 in Japan and should follow in North America and Europe by the end of March 2011. Metal Gear Solid should follow soon after release. The game is also being referred to as a "revival" of the original PS2 game and should also include new gameplay suited to a portable.

Video footage demonstrating the game running on real 3DS hardware has also been uploaded by Konami. You'll have to imagine the 3D effect, but it shouldn't be too hard. Something will reach toward the screen every few seconds or so.

It's hard to tell what represents actual gameplay, but it looks like Snake can now run while crouching--a feature added in Metal Gear Solid 4--and a ring surrounds Snake, similar to the gameplay system in the PSP versions of the series.

I agree. I like MGS2 more, but MGS3 is the better game.

All of the boss battles are going to be very interesting with 3D elements thrown in.

I hope they don't portableize it too much. I don't want short Peace Walker or Portable Ops like missions. The fact that you can save anywhere at any time, kind of makes it portable-friendly to begin with.
