[Update 5:40 - BL] Quickly confirming the report, EA Sports president Peter Moore has detailed the delay of NBA Elite 11 on his official blog. While no time period is given for NBA Elite 11, Moore details new content coming to NBA Live 10 free of charge, including a roster update for the 2010-2011 NBA season. "We are going to keep working until we're certain we can deliver a breakthrough basketball experience," says Moore.

NBA Jam, which was originally to be included with NBA Elite on the Xbox 360 and PS3, will get standalone releases on the two consoles "in time for the holidays". The October 5 release of the Wii version is unchanged.

[Original Story - XdM] It appears that NBA Elite 11 is dribbling into a 2011 release window. GameStop has changed its original listing of October 5 release date to March 31, 2011, while Amazon and Wal-mart have removed any release date information from its respective websites.

A separate source indicated to Shacknews that EA's upcoming NBA revival will see a delay.

NBA Elite 11 was set to reset the EA Sports NBA brand, previously labeled "NBA Live," which had not been received on the same quality level as its Madden, FIFA or NHL franchises. The upcoming title was also set to include a download code for NBA Jam on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Shacknews has contacted EA for comment on the possible delay but have yet to hear back at the time of publishing.

So is NBA 2K11 still slated for an October 5th release? If so, there must be some smiles at the 2K offices.
