Rumor: Box Art Surfaces for Mortal Kombat, Prince of Persia Collections on PS3
by Brian Leahy, Sep 27, 2010 4:20pm PDTUnconfirmed box art has surfaced for Prince of Persia Trilogy 3D and the previously rumored Mortal Kombat HD Arcade Kollection. Jeux Video (via Joystiq) claims that the Prince of Persia collection will be released in Europe on November 4, while the MK pack will ship on November 18.
Other Ubisoft collections--Rayman, Splinter Cell, Tom Clancy--are also mentioned by Jeux Video, presumably all supporting 3D like the Prince of Persia Trilogy.
Based on previous reports, the Mortal Kombat "kollection" could include versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, which is backed up by the supposed box art. The box art also shows support for 3D.
Re-releasing games in these collections is a strategy Sony is pursuing with its properties, having already released a God of War Collection and confirming Ico and Shadow of the Colossus releases at Tokyo Game Show 2010. Sly Cooper will also get a bundle, with The Sly Collection coming in the fall with Move minigames and updated 3D support for Sly 3.

Wish that Microsoft would do this with Halo and Halo 2. That is, spruce them up a bit, re-release them as a duo set for a low price.
Then again, I think there are plenty of old Jak & Daxter's, Ratchet & Clank's for Sony to do. Plus, I wouldn't mind a set for the Metal Gear Solid series by Konami, the GTA 3/VC/SA trilogy, and perhaps some Final Fantasy classic games for a set.
Especially the MGS games. I think that'd be a brilliant set for Konami to make. Like printing money.
