Weekend Confirmed Episode 27

112
After a couple of far-flung weeks with shows from PAX and the International special, Garnett, Brian, and Jeff reunite in the studio, and just in time too because they've got a whole lot to cover. Whatcha' Been Playin? gets things started with some mopping up from TGS including The Third Birthday, Ni no Kuni, and a couple others. Valkyria Chronicles 2 and the upcoming 3 which was also at TGS get some love. And all three of the guys have tales of global conquest from late night Civ 5 sessions. The Warning poses the question of whether the quest to westernize has become a distraction to Japanese game development and, of course, your Gran Turismo 5 responses get their due. Lara's continuing co-op struggles, the apparent cancellation of Milo, and naturally some Halo:Reach news highlight the Front Page to wrap it all up.

Glad to have you all back together!

This work day is gonna fly by quicker.

Civ V is really great. For me, it just feels so different than Civ IV because the flow of expanding and such is so different. The combat is MUCH improved. I will definitely be spending many hours on this.

Is it just me or is Gran Turismo 5 the only major PS3 exclusive coming out this Holiday now that LBP2 is early 2011......

Now time to listen to the Show.

I think it is. Honestly, Im not really sure if this year was the strongest for PS3 Exclusives. GoW 3 was great and all, but Its the only one I can think of off the top of my head that was really universaly great. Heavy Rain got middling reviews, Mod Nation was decent, LBP 2 is next year, and I dont think I can really think fo anything else. While 360 had Halo Reach, Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2 (still 360 console exclusive for this year), and I think thats it. Yeah, both consoles didnt have massive Exclusive year this year, but thats because most of the great games this year were multiplatform.

Uncharted 2 I thought was this year. Pretty sure demons souls was last year.. killer game though.
Alan wake did pretty poorly, it seemed like heavy rain did ok. I enjoyed it, but traded it in for GOW collection. Joe danger is pretty fun but I'm more of a Trials fan.

Nope, both Uncharted 2 and Demon's Souls were last year.

And, yes Demon's Souls was probably my GOTY for 2009, although Saint's Row 2 (PC) and Solium Infernum are so close I'd have to give it a 3 way tie.
