He's right. I'm looking forward to Portal 2; however, the continuation of the Half-Life series will eclipse everything Valve does for that year (in terms of expectation and anticipation) for me personally. But perhaps that's why it isn't out yet.
Until then, keep fighting the good fight, Mr. Lucas Molyneux. Oh, and ask your dad to re-tool B.C. and release it on the Xbox 360. That original Xbox cancellation still stings.
This week we have two copies of Iron Man 2! One on DVD and one on Blu Ray.
Iron Man 2 comes out on DVD and Blu Ray next Tuesday. If you haven't seen it yet, it's great and definitely lives up to the expectations set by the first one.

I know the general consensus is that it's great, everyone loves it, but I want to talk about what I think are it's flaws because if all we do is praise something up and down it'll never get better.
-The A.I. obviously needs tweaking. It will cancel deals and then turn around on the very next turn and offer the deal it just canceled. Another example, I was at war with Catherine and she wanted peace and basically offered up front nearly everything she could give me. Gold, gold per turn, 1 way open border, her strategic resources... there was no negotiation at all.
-I am not a fan of the early game unit art. In my opinion, there are just too many people representing 1 unit within a hex. 10 little characters within 1 game hex is just too many to make a quick distinction between units without being zoomed in all the way. And the icons floating above their head just litter the screen. We shouldn't need icons above every single unit to distinguish what they are. A mouse over icon would should be more than enough. I thought the in-game screen was supposed to be clean, minimal interface, and clutter free with Civ 5. Icons over units do not promote this.
-I personally preferred the combat odds of Civ 4 to "draw" "decisive victory" "major victory" "minor loss" or the other various descriptions. I don't understand why some of these changes occurred if it was just for sake of the change.
There are other things both good and bad I could continue to talk about, but I just wanted to open up a discussion among the community and the few 2k representatives we have here.

I was just watching the GSL RO16 and thinkin about the whole 'esports' thing. Starcraft has been way more entertaining to watch than I ever thought it would and Ive watched an embarrassing amount of games by now. That said, I feel like as much as all the american folks say they want it to be big here, gomtv has the worst model for growing viewership. I paid for the first tournament but I cant imagine paying $20 every month. They should be making it way easier for curious people to check out some games.

I sometimes need to access my computer, but I don't feel like going through all of the dyndns/port forwarding/router bullshit every time I need to do this. I need to be able to know that if my computer is on, I can get to it.
Are there any services out there that simplify this for me? Secondly, are they cheap and or free?

Has anyone else experienced it on your server where players will log in, they place their blocks only to watch them disappear? You logoff, then back on and poof they are there? Anyone else have that happen? If so is there a good way of solving it?

it really shows how much value and polish you can put into a game when you've got the studio support and funding that someone like bungie gets. i mean their campaign is just a tiny slice of the experience. you have a meaty, average-length campaign. truly challenging difficulty levels. an awesome co-op mode. an even better co-op firefight option. regular DM, team-based objective matches, replays, forge, it's insane.
only a few studios have the resources to put out something this complete and that's sad. imagine what a really talented and creative, but small and underfunded dev could do with the money of a valve, or blizzard, or bungie.

WEEKEND MP GAME
Real Civ is all about multiplayer, so I'm going to get a Standard | Standard (8 civ / 16 cs) game going this evening and continuing to the weekend.
This is some real nerd shit so you had better be flexible + willing to play a few hours fri/sat/sun. You also need to be patient if the shit doesn't work, understanding if the shit never finishes, accepting if you get wiped out of the shit early on, and so forth.
I'm looking at Standard Archipelago for the map type, but am definitely willing to change. Standard timespeed is pretty much set due to this playthrough being the first, even though we all know that Huge Marathon is the way Civ was meant to be played.
Civ distro will be handled amiably, but I'm thinking Arabia or China. If we do Archipelago, I'm sure England will be a hot property.
Tentatively have Jikim, MeenMunky, Whiteshack, and Xevo so far.
