Report: NASCAR License Goes to Activision

VG247 is reporting that a new NASCAR game is coming from Eutechnyx and Activision, which has reportedly acquired the NASCAR license. The license had previously been with Electronic Arts, but the publisher had no immediate plans for future titles in late 2009.

A forum page on the Eutechnyx for NASCAR 2011 appeared and disappeared, but the all-seeing eye of Google cached the evidence for all to see.

Developers have begun teasing an announcement on Twitter. Eutechnyx has previously worked games like the Big Mutha Truckas series and the Pimp My Ride PS2 game.

If Activision has truly acquired the NASCAR license, it will be interesting to see what happens, if anything, to the NASCAR content in Gran Turismo 5. Electronic Arts' last NASCAR game was NASCAR Kart Racing for the Wii, which was released in February 2009.
