Super Meat Boy Getting Free Chapters Through 'Teh Internets' on XBLA
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 23, 2010 6:36am PDTThe Xbox Live Arcade edition of Team Meat's "tough as nails" platformer Super Meat Boy will receive a series of free downloadable chapters though an exclusive feature dubbed 'Teh Internets,' the indie developer has revealed.
Five 'Teh Internets' chapters are currently planned, each twenty levels long. They'll be delivered for free by Xbox Live's 'Title Managed Storage,' the feature also used by Monday Night Combat to issue balance updates without going through certification.
"Before we all start to bitch and moan about [the exclusivity]," Team Meat's Tommy Refenes explains, "know that in order for the game to come out on XBLA, we had to offer something exclusive and this was the best and coolest option for us."
It's not all doom and gloom on other platforms, though. PC and Mac players will get a level editor, which Refenes aims to launch "no more than 6 months after the PC version ships." Select user-made levels will eventually also hit 'Teh Internets.'
Super Meat Boy will be released for Xbox 360 on October 20 at 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15) as part of 'Game Feast.' PC, Mac and WiiWare editions are also on their way.
