No Plans for Super Street Fighter IV PC; Piracy Blamed
by Brian Leahy, Sep 22, 2010 10:20am PDTProducer Yoshinori Ono has revealed that there are currently no plans to bring Super Street Fighter IV to the PC due to piracy in an interview with 4Gamer (via Andriasang).
Ono does realize that piracy of the PC version gave the game a wider spread, but Capcom could not continue with the title being "free" in certain territories. A PC release wasn't ruled out, but it would hinge on better anti-piracy protection.
A PC port would be incredibly easy to create at this point as the arcade version in development runs on hardware that is essentially a Windows XP machine. This also means that an illegal version of the game could find its way online. Earlier this year, pirates were able to rip BlazBlue: Continuum Shift, which runs on the same arcade hardware, and release it as a fully functioning PC program.
The arcade version will add two new characters and a host of new balance changes. It is possible that these balance changes could hit consoles at some point.

I juts don't understand Capcom or any companies thinking?
Opt A : So as a company I would rather say "Fuck you I am not selling my game at all, tough shit, the reason is because of piracy our company does this"
Opt B : Rather than say well the pirates that we claim will not buy the game any ways so why not put the game on Steam or what ever and at least let the legitimate gamers buy our game and pay us money even if its as small as a 100,000(I believe the PC version of SF4 sold way more than that). And by putting out the game for release we also have the opportunity to have marketing and good word of mouth to further increase more possible sales and potential customers.
How the shit can anyone justify Opt A? Please any one try and make a argument on how any one can even have as an option.
Soory, my opinion, saying piracy is the reason = bullshit flawed logic. The fact is if you release it at least you get some money rather than no money and make your fans happy rather than piss them off.
Like Brian mentioned to port SSF4( to the PC you literally only have to remove the HDD encryption and make a installer for the files and then make a launcher for the main app it already would run natively on win XP and up.
I am getting sick of the piracy comments(they have no merit, yes piracy exists but this makes thing worse), it only punishes the real customers just like the stupid gun laws happening in Canada right now.

Maybe the only thing that makes sense logically(but it is flawed), but the sad truth of PC gaming is this is why we never get the PC versions on launch date with the 360 and PS3. Company's already counter your point by not releasing the PC at the same time.
So really it doesn't make sense, still, there is no reason as long as you release the PC version later and have the 360 and PS3 version out first that we can not have a PC version.
I just still don't see the point. Shit I have bought many games on the 360 and then sell it and get the PC version. I have payed twice like a idiot just for a company's piracy counter measures. I see no reason for any company whining about piracy to at least continue this practice along with use Steam.
