Gran Turismo 5 Dynamic Weather Revealed in TGS Media Blast

16
Polyphony Digital has unveiled a whole host of new Gran Turismo 5 information at the Tokyo Game Show, showing everything from a dynamic weather system and new versions of old GT tracks to a drivable amphibious car and Volkswagen Samba Bus.

"Factors like temperature, pressure and humidity are all calculated to help simulate weather conditions that change dynamically," Polyphony explains, which will naturally affect car performance.

Veteran Gran Turismo series tracks Trial Mountain Circuit and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca will return "rebuilt from scratch to drastically improve their quality," says PD.

Gran Turismo 5 is due out exclusively for PlayStation 3 on November 5. No, really.

Look, what I'm about to say know that I bought Forza 3 for my friends 360, logged about 60 hours with the game since it came out, evangelized it when I realized that not enough people bought the greatest racing game ever made. 2 million sales, really?! So with all that being said this is going to be the greatest racing game ever made. I HATE judging a game by it's trailer but you know the gameplay is rock solid, you know the graphics will set a bar, and you know that this game will come with a cornucopia of features. So I'm calling it. The best of it's kind. I mean did you see the fucking weather effects. The only negative feedback I've heard has been super nitpicky. Day one. No in fact I'll be pulling a favour like I did with Reach and it'll be day minus 4.

We're going to have to see if the damage modeling holds up. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=263319

I think they've said that there were major limits on car damage - Though it's also never been a priority for Polyphony, at least not visually.

Forza 3 didn't exactly try to push the limits like Burnout.

Yea. It just sort of bothers me when people complain about the un impressiveness of GT5's damage. I play a lot of Sims and you're not going to get Burnout style damage. The reason that Grid could do it, and not even on the higher end cars mind you, was because they were using 3-4 year old models.
