Morning Discussion

The first part of Valve's Left 4 Dead comic 'The Sacrifice' has arrived, if you hadn't noticed yet. Featuring art by Powers picture-maker Michael Avon Oeming, The Sacrifice is so far a series of flashbacks explaining character backstory and leading into the Left 4 Dead 2 DLC The Passing. It's interesting to see as a straight scripted narrative with full conversations and explanations is so very different to the game's storytelling method.

I ran out of time so I can't say what I was thinking right now, but I was probably just looking for an excuse to say "cranial blancmange" anyway. Delicious!

Why don't you call them and get another one dispatched to you overnight for free? Do you have prime? did you select release day shipping?

I probably should say this but I ordered a copy from Amazon on Monday afternoon and it was on my doorstep when I got home from work yesterday--I was impressed!

It's Amazon.co.uk and usually they are fast but they suck for new releases. Should have gone with play.com.

I don't understand why people preorder games they are really anticipating via a website. You can walk into any Best Buy or Wal-Mart on the day of release and buy it. Is it just for the preorder bonuses or the convienence of not having to leave the house or does Amazon/others give better prices on release day than a normal retailer? I'm not even trying to be mean/rude/accusatory, I'm honestly curious what the reasoning is.

amazon delivers it to my doorstep by the time i'm home from work on release day, far more often than not.

plus i got 20 bucks credit towards another game.

must be why Best Buy gave me a $20 gift card... maybe they're trying to compete with Amazon now?

pricing. dutch retailers barely have any competition so all games are fullprice. me and MBD save significant money by ordering from out of country

and for me, the only way to get games without green blood or which have terrible awful zombies which need to be banned is to order them from abroad

That makes more sense then. I'd probably risk not having something on release day too if it was a considerable saving.

I had to wait over a week after launch for my preorder of Red Dead to arrive from Amazon. It was frustrating reading about everyone having such a great time with it.
