New CG Resident Evil Movie Announced for 2012

By Brian Leahy, Sep 14, 2010 1:40pm PDT Capcom and Sony Pictures Entertainment Japan have announced a new computer-generated Resident Evil film for release in 2012. The film, titled Resident Evil Damnation, is a follow-up to the 2008 CG film Resident Evil: Degeneration.

"Resident Evil: Damnation will feature as its main character Leon S. Kennedy just like its predecessor," reads the press release. "The film is currently in production, with plans for a terrifying 3D release in Japan in 2012."

While a date has only been announced for Japan, Resident Evil movies are released globally with success. It is likely that this will be localized and released outside of Japan at some point. Meanwhile, the fourth live-action Resident Evil movie was released worldwide last Friday and earned more in the film's first weekend in the US than any previous entries in the series.

Well, until they release a fifth.
