whatever happened to Decay?

I think the reason Steve chose to not rate Daikatana was simple respect for a man who has contributed greatly to the gaming community as we know it.

It would be easy to slam the man like so many of you do so anonymously. Romero has great talent and had many documented problems producing Daikatana. There is little doubt he will rise again.

You guys bashing Romero so hard should try and show a little class. If you don't like his game, don't buy it. The merciless personal attacks are very uncool. But this is the shack and sometimes uncoolness runs wild... :(

I can't see how skiing couldn't have been bad for Tribes... I don't play Tribes, but wouldn't skiing utterly destroy the balancing of the game?

Would the medium class even get used? Wouldn't people just use heavies or lights to snipe?

T2 needs a good single player game, and to be a bit more friendly to the inexperienced. Weapons that don't feel like crap would be nice as well. (something to snipe with that isn't the Tribes 1 POS laser that can't pull off many one shot kills is needed)

I agree with sTeve when he says in his E3 article"it's too early to judge Halo," as it is. You should not have given it any score if you let Dike-a-tana POS go away scott free.
BTW, aren't these people posting the same group of people who agreed with 3D Realms when they said that they wanted to minimize the information released on Duke 4? Well Bungie is minimizing the information released on Halo, and Halo will end up having a better single player story line anyways. So please excuse me if I'm having a hard time accepting a 6 score for Halo, when obviously you're just angry that you can't play it yet.

steve has an id bias? i don't think it's that heavy, he reports a lot of q3 stuff, but as he's said, a good majority of people here do support id, not just the messageboard people. and also, he gave the mission pack a 7.2, and said he cringed every time he saw the trip mine. I agree with too much hype to fairly judge daikatana, though..it's not out of respect for romero, it's more, we've had so much fun bashing daikatana before it came out, how can he not have a bias before even playing it that it sucks? although i guess to some degree, every game has that sort of bias...okay i'm done

Bashing Romero's game doesnt mean you hate Romero and doesnt equal to a personal attack. I fucking hated Diakatana but that doesnt mean I think Romero is an asshole or a faggot or a faggot's asshole, I just dont like his game. If he makes another game ill give it a try. True he had problems. He went through like 2 development teams and I say if anyone had to take most of the blame it would be that other designer(i think) fuck (Todd Porter?) who was in those ION Storm emails that Dallas Insider(i think) released 2 years ago.
If I were sTeve, for my Diakatana review I would have written:
Diaktana - "In my opinion this game blew ass but I cant wait to see what he does next."

He had a good vision and the game sounded good on paper but he just had too many problems executing it.

Halo should have got a 10 for hype factor alone. Who else could pimp a tech demo for a year and a half without anyone asking "Where's the Beef?"

Halo will probably look good at next year's E3 too. They might even have two jeeps! Onscreen! At the same time! Driving!

What? No mention of Sacrifice? That game looked quite awesome, dare I say better than WC3 (which seems to be reverting back to traditional RTS, and blocking 1/3 of the screen with the interface... despite the fact they said they didn't want to do that :P)

3. You praise game developers efforts without pumping sunshine.

i heard that dynamix was capping player speeds by class in the next tribes 1 patch. or was that just me imagining that?

my main concerns with tribes 1 were the newbie-unfriendly setup (like a very poor tutorial, and the equipment setup that required you understand it before you did it), and the fact that weapons didn't hit where you were aiming when you fired (regardless of whether it's "correct" or not, it was not what i was used to from all my other games).

i'm pretty psyched about the single player portion of tribes 2. if it's any good, it might be enough to get me online.

skiing

nobody needed to use transportation anymore.
When the skiing got out of control I stopped playing.

Im happy its been removed.
It was never actually meant to be in ther in the first place.
