That Naughty Bear will be embarking upon a pirate-themed adventure in new downloadable content for the scare 'em up, developer Artificial Mind and Movement--don't call them 'A2M,' it only encourages them--has announced.

The 'Chapter 9' DLC will add four new challenges with buccaneers, treasure and great acts of violence, featuring new characters Admiral Giggles, The Pirates and The Dread Pirate Bearbeard. Naughty Bear will be able to expand his wardrobe with new costumes and hats, as well as wield a cutlass with "unique ultra-kill capabilities."

Chapter 9 will be released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 "by the end of September," priced at $4.99 (400 Microsoft Points; a bit over half a gold doubloon).

The premise sounded cool, but there were too many damning reviews both of the professional kind and the "dude on a blog or twitter" kind to warrant spending anything on this.

It's already clearancing at Target. Saw it for 24.98 the other day, heard reports it's gone lower elsewhere. And yet they support it...good for them, I guess.
