Morning Discussion

By Xav de Matos, Sep 08, 2010 5:00am PDT Yesterday, NHL 11 arrived from Amazon. While I spent the majority of my day in bed trying not to be sick, I toyed with some of the game's newest features. Specifically, I spent time with the full version of EA's Hockey Ultimate Team.

If you had fun with it in the demo, be aware that the system isn't as "kind" in the real version. In the demo it was pretty standard to have guys like Chara and Malkin find their way to your team, in the full version you're mostly looking at third liners and a ton of mid-tier rookies.

Also, the fact that players can purchase new cards with real money on the Xbox 360 or PS3 has the potential to break the system. We'll have to see how balance shifts over time.

I'm virtualising our entire system to VM's. The plan is i'll be setting up our existing 'VMWARE Server 2' Servers to ESXi 4.1. We'll have 3 and that will allow us to only need to buy the Vmware Essentials Kit.

Main thing, Backups. What is the best way to backup these. I found something online called 'esXpress'. IT seemed puuurfeect. But then I encountered some errors and apparently it doesn't support ESXi. Which frightened me a little. Why wouldn't it support it?

Anyway, anyone have a different backup technique?
