Evening Reading: Labor Day Edition
by Alice O'Connor, Sep 06, 2010 5:00pm PDTIt's been a quiet Labor [sic] Day here at Shacknews as the video games industry has mostly been out in the garden with a beer in one hand and a hotdog in the other, not to mention I've been working by myself. Still, I hope that whoever and wherever you are, you have come to appreciate the labouring classes a little bit more than you did before.
Me, I've been working hard all labour day so nobody appreciates long, hard slog better than me. Crumbs, what a gruelling day! I think I'll unwind by playing the PC version of Chime, which unlocked on Steam while I was writing this post. I already have the Xbox 360 edition but this'll make a fine addition to my netbook for travel fun.

V: Are you familiar with the game Duke Nukem 3-D? If so, are you aware of the similarities between its lead character and Ash in the way of mentality and catch phrases? Are you flattered by this sort of "borrowing" of your work?
BC: What can I say? Maybe they're just cheese-balls who can't conceive of an original idea and feel compelled to rip off Ash. Imitation is indeed a form of flattery, but paying a guy is an even better form.

Social feeds is where the hype is at. Sure it might spur some of us who are used to coming to the Shack for a video but when it comes to your friend saying "hey check out this game" and then giving you a URL with which you are familiar with most people would be more inclined to check it out.
