Crackdown 2 'Toy Box' DLC Bugged, Temporary Fix Offered

3
An error with the new Crackdown 2 'Toy Box' downloadable content, which launched yesterday with both free and paid components, has rendered the game unplayable for many.

"The paid part of the DLC was incorrectly configured when mastered," Ruffian Games studio head Gaz Liddon wrote on its forums. This will lead to the game hanging on the title screen for some, while others while be hit by an achievement voice-over repeating constantly until the game slows to a crawl.

"What needs to happen is the correct configuration files get put on Marketplace and everyone who've paid for the DLC gets the update," he explained, though "How that will happen or when I don't currently know. It has to be quickly obviously."

"We're completely gutted here," Liddon wrote. "The whole aim of this DLC was to provide a decent sized package at a low price with a lot of great free stuff so we can make the people who played CD2 happy. The exact opposite has happened and frustratingly it's down to issues we can't fix ourselves."

In the meantime, Liddon offers the following hold-over fix:

  1. Delete Toybox DLC
  2. Delete your profile (just the profile, not the items attached)
  3. Recover your profile
  4. Redownload DLC
"We've just tried this here and it works," Liddon writes. However, "After you've done that there is still an issue caused by the packaging that means you won't be able to access the new achievements that come with the ToyBox DLC which should be resolved by a patch."

Guess it's just luck that I'm unable to download the DLC altogether then.
