Morning Discussion

By Xav de Matos, Aug 26, 2010 5:00am PDT You've probably seen the links in previous chatty posts by now but in case you missed it, check out the ComicCon trailer for AMC's The Walking Dead.

Since the series isn't landing until October 31, I've decided to ruin the entire experience and read the graphic novels. Well, ruin might be the wrong word as AMC has stated that the adaptation is based on the series. This means it may see a number of changes, which fans may just have to start dealing with now or decide to ignore the show entirely.

Sometimes changes work out for the better; however, sometimes changes can ruin the overall message or experience. For example, Watchmen was completely destroyed for me when the film decided to pull Dr. Manhattan's final, haunting lines of dialog and give them to a different character rendering them utterly meaningless.

What do you think about changes to source material? Do you want a carbon copy or something more tuned to the new medium it's being translated to?

  • Anyone want to try Rockets & Ropes in Worms Reloaded?

I am asking here rather than inviting randomly so people don't get confused and angry when joining a game that has everything but the Bazooka and Ninja Rope disabled. Also some girders on delay for building defensive walls and new roping platforms as the game progresses. Maybe throw in a magnet or two, how do they work?

    Why only those items?
It changes up the standard Worms action and can be a lot of fun. The wind affects the bazooka, and your power and trajectory matter for each shot, especially long range ones. It's the purest weapon in the game. Splash damage is always a factor too when up close too. The rope is what is, generally used for getting to hard to reach spots in this mode and also getting around the map and picking up health and whatever other drops are enabled before firing. Not easy to use at first too, and if you hit a wall and take falling damage when roping your turn is over. If you fall into the water you are dead obviously :<

It's a good way to learn both items or improve with them, because even in a game with everything enabled they are can still be very important and useful.

I'll probably need to tweak some settings after a few rounds. Not going to be a mode I play often unless others like it.
