by Xav de Matos, Aug 26, 2010 5:00am PDTYou've probably seen the links in previous chatty posts by now but in case you missed it, check out the ComicCon trailer for AMC's The Walking Dead.
Since the series isn't landing until October 31, I've decided to ruin the entire experience and read the graphic novels. Well, ruin might be the wrong word as AMC has stated that the adaptation is based on the series. This means it may see a number of changes, which fans may just have to start dealing with now or decide to ignore the show entirely.
Sometimes changes work out for the better; however, sometimes changes can ruin the overall message or experience. For example, Watchmen was completely destroyed for me when the film decided to pull Dr. Manhattan's final, haunting lines of dialog and give them to a different character rendering them utterly meaningless.
What do you think about changes to source material? Do you want a carbon copy or something more tuned to the new medium it's being translated to?

There is no different league break downs. This is a giant community tournament with all skill levels involved. PLEASE do not feel intimiated to sign up. This is a community event and is a lot of fun. Same format as last time. I will be updating the rules later but I wanted to get the signups open now.
I would like to get at least 64 players again, if not more. There are already 77 people signed up. Player limit is now set at 128. If there are not enough people for 128, bye matches will happen. Beta tournament #1 ran extremely well.

Sponsorship information is going to be coming VERY soon. Waiting to finalize the details towards the end of this week/beginning of next week. HUGE thanks to Serpico74 for some connections. I am waiting on confirmation on one more sponsor and then we will be good to go. I think people are going to be extremely happy with the prizes this time around.
We will have casting and HD streaming done as per last tournament. I am looking to get this started after labor day so there is plenty of time to get ready.
Map list coming once I figure out how many total people. There will be ICCup custom SC2 maps in this tournament alongside of Blizzard maps. I will announce the map list with plenty of time before the start of the tournament for people to play them and get used to them. The only way the custom map scene will take off is if people start playing them. There are some awesome ICCup maps already.
