by Xav de Matos, Aug 26, 2010 5:00am PDTYou've probably seen the links in previous chatty posts by now but in case you missed it, check out the ComicCon trailer for AMC's The Walking Dead.
Since the series isn't landing until October 31, I've decided to ruin the entire experience and read the graphic novels. Well, ruin might be the wrong word as AMC has stated that the adaptation is based on the series. This means it may see a number of changes, which fans may just have to start dealing with now or decide to ignore the show entirely.
Sometimes changes work out for the better; however, sometimes changes can ruin the overall message or experience. For example, Watchmen was completely destroyed for me when the film decided to pull Dr. Manhattan's final, haunting lines of dialog and give them to a different character rendering them utterly meaningless.
What do you think about changes to source material? Do you want a carbon copy or something more tuned to the new medium it's being translated to?

There is are two stages to the tournament, group stage and elimination stage. During the group stage, 6 people will be in a group, randomly chosen. Each player in a group will play every other player at least once in a best of 3 match. Top two in the group go onto the Round of 16, rest are eliminated. At the round of 16 it goes to a single elimination best of 3 tournament, with the semifinals/finals being best of 5.
A set of games will be played each weekend, here are the maps for each week.
Week 1: Xel'Naga Caverns
Week 2: Lost Temple
Week 3: Delta Quadrant
Week 4: Desert Oasis Blistering Sands
Week 5: Scrap Station
Week 6: Metalopolis
Loser will choose the subsequent maps, and each player can veto one map per match.
Games from the RO16+ will be streamed live as resources permit, group stage games at caster discretion.
Week 1 will start September 4th 11th. Please SM me your availability hours and timezone so I can schedule matches accordingly. We'll be playing most matches Saturday evening, with Sunday evening as an option if there are schedule conflicts.
