Morning Discussion

Today, in the middle of this Gamescom 2010 insanity, is Microsoft's X10 in Toronto.

This isn't the "traditional" Microsoft "X" events you're used to, however, this event is strictly a preview of the games hitting the Xbox 360 this holiday season. Since it's in Canada, I can only assume that 94% of all televisions will be running NHL 11, while the remainder will probably have Halo: Reach ... on some kind of a snow-based level.

I'll be hitting the event today to check out the industry's upcoming wares and make sure to report back to you, our loyal readers.

Slated for 2012, thus really coming out in 2013 with the required Blizzard delays?

They did get SC2 out when they said (as with Wrath). If Cataclysm comes out this year... I'd say they're getting better at releases.

They got SC2 out when they said because they worked on it for six years before they said it would be out. Blizzard doesn't give release dates until it's 100% guaranteed they'll hit them.

want to play also as well.

Hmmm, single slot inventory is gone. Good or bad thing? Honestly, I don't mind playing Tetris and consider item size to be another interesting and significant way to value items besides their stats.

Looks like every item he showed is 2 slots instead of one. No inventory tetris.

Yeah, looks like one slot for small shit, 2 for everything else.

That's much better than crazy shit like 6 slots for a chest piece, 4 for helmets, and random huge sizes for certain weapons.

Unlimited single socketing (I assume single, anyway) will be nice, no more having to bug your friends to rush a mule to A5 Q1 so you can socket that shako that just dropped for your main char.

The crafting gets more of a meh. Looks to replicate some Cube recipies (3 chips + magic sword, etc). I can't imagine that for the most part they would compete with the better dropped items, unless you got a perfect roll on the random mods (again, just as in D2).

He said you could find new recipe's from monster drops. I can foresee some very nice recipes in the wilderness that I would want my artisan to create. :D

Suppose that's true, but they'll have to work hard to balance it right, since a recipe is unlimited rolls (limited only by gold) on the armor and a unique you have to find each time; if recipes are straight-up better, even if extremely rare they will render uniques pointless.

If finding a super omega awesome recipe from a monster is one in a thousand or higher chance to find it, and you do find the item, I think you've earned that recipe and all that's included.

Min-maxing is where the replay value comes from, where's the harm? I'm sure you can beat the game at least on Normal and Nightmare just using random crap you find. And they're doing away with insanely overspecialized characters that only get to use two abilities ever.

I really only care about one thing at this point... wait for it.....

When is it going to be released, can they not even mention the year in which it will be released, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013....

Is no one else pissed of they can not even say what year it will be released in?
