Morning Discussion

Yesterday, Brian and I debated about why we think Scott Pilgrim vs. The World "bombed" at theaters. Is it a question of "interest vs. marketing"? Do people really dislike Michael Cera? There are a lot of factors.

Sadly, the movie tanked at the theaters, only hitting $10.6 million in its first weekend.

Sometimes things are so popular on the internet that they are an assumed success and marketing teams don't broaden their ad reach. Scott Pilgrim has been the talk of the web since its first teaser was released. But, like Watchmen and Snakes on a Plane, it didn't translate to blockbuster numbers.

So, we wonder: Did you watch Scott Pilgrim vs. The World? Why or why not? And, for those of you who did spend the time and money to check it out, what did you think?

    Warhammer 40,000 Tabletop

A few months ago Head Rush posted that he had a bunch of old 40k stuff stored at his parents' house that he hadn't touched in years and offered it up. I pounced, and he said that the next time he visited them he'd box it up and ship it my way. That time was Friday the 6th, which of course was the day before we left for vacation. So now I present to you the kindness of strangers...who wouldn't even allow me to pay for shipping!

I feel that everyone should know that our dear wadmaasi will be putting the Space Marines and Dark Eldar in plastic bags, which will go into a box to collect dust and never be used in an actual army, instead of selling them to his good friend at a competitive rate who will actual use them in battle against him.

It is me. I am friends with wadmaasi. I am out now and it feels like a great weight off my shoulders.

Friends? We are not friends. Adversaries, nemesis, and, perhaps at best, frienemies, but not friends. No. Never. I would not stand for it!

Let me check with Jen, but probably not. Part of the reason she does this to herself is so that she can cook a bunch of random shit.

I'd taken a quick peek inside the box before we left, but that glimpse did no justice to the sheer amount of stuff that was crammed inside. I kept pulling out rank upon rank of gretchin and, even though I have no interest in collecting/playing Orks (too many models to paint!), my grin kept getting wider and wider.

There was a local tournament this weekend (the NOVA Open) and someone took some shots of their favorite armies on display boards. Some of these are pretty damn sweet:

Oh, and some of those Orks are from GorkaMorka. I couldn't find any other remnants of it, appears my parents threw that entire box away.

Nice. That's a ton of stuff. Now that I'm back from Brazil I hope to get around to putting together my Chaos Battleforce. I'm starting with the Khorne Bezerkers because I need more melee oriented troops to crush the filthy Tau.

That's a nice little score! I see the old trees are already brown and green on the sprue! That's pretty nice if you want quick and easy. The new ones need to be painted.

I usually get a bit of modeling work done while watching golf on the weekends, but this tournament was pretty dramatic and fun to watch, a lot more so than watching the grass grow, so I didn't get a whole lot done on my Orks.

That didn't stop me from ordering some more plastic (SM Tac squad and some terrain bits) and a Book of Tau though. So I'll be able to follow along with the next batrep much better, as I'll know my broadsides from my crisis suits and all their wargear.
