Square Enix Announces Gun Loco for the Xbox 360

Square Enix has just announced a new Xbox 360-exclusive title featuring a collection of crazy criminals, racing to escape from a distant prison planet. The "black comedy" action-shooter Gun Loco is set to break free to retail sometime in 2011.

Described as a "third-person, sprint-action shooter," Gun Loco allows players to take on the role of one of many characters designed by Honk Kong toy maker, Kenny Wong -- co-creator of the Brothersworker franchise.

Each caricature-style character in Gun Loco was first "designed from scratch as a real, posable action figure in the Brothersworker vein before being digitally scanned into the game."

In Gun Loco, players will constantly be chased by opponents and must run, jump, duck and vault away from danger, using the environment to their advantage. Square Enix promises each character will have access to a specialty "kill move," taunts and a "powerful arsenal" of weapons. (Has anyone ever announced a game with weak weapons?)

Although the announcement press release says up to "12-players" will be able to compete in a "range" of modes and arenas, the online component is not further detailed.
